Smoke a classic western stogie at Tabak and Co.

Back in 1865, Park Central Square in downtown Springfield was the site of an infamous shootout between Wild Bill and David Tutt. Today, you can walk around the square, see where it all went down, and enjoy a stogie!

Cigars date back to the ancient Mayans. Enjoying tobacco rolled in plantain leaves was a common pastime. Would you like to get in on the action in the 21st century? Stop by Tabak and Co.

I visited with a few friends last week to scope things out. After opening heavy wood doors, you arrive in an oak room with an antique feel. Sitting on a bar stool, I ordered a deeply smoky ghost pepper cocktail and picked out a Fuente Reserve cigar from the walk-in humidor. Finally, it was time to savor the evening on the patio.

The shop was founded by two Springfield natives who met while on deployment in Afghanistan. Cody Hutchinson, one of the shop owners, has been a lifelong fan of cigars and started Tabak and Co. to provide for his family. Whether you are new to the hobby or a seasoned tobacco enthusiast, be sure to visit from 4-10 pm Monday-Thursday and 5 - midnight on Friday or Saturday!

Namaste.
